California Virtual Campus (CVC) Exchange Student Financial Aid Information
The California Virtual College (CVC) Exchange system allows students to simultaneously enroll at participating Community Colleges and combine units taken at multiple community colleges to potentially maximize financial aid at their designated Home college.
In the context of the California Virtual Campus (CVC) Exchange, the "Home College" is the California Community College where the student is currently enrolled, intends to complete their degree or certificate, and from which the student initiates the CVC Exchange process.
As a reminder, the Teaching College is the college teaching the course you found on https://www.cvc.edu/.
Requesting Financial Aid
After the student cross-enrolled in class using the CVC exchange system, the student will be able to view and select the Request to use Federal Financial Aid option.
When the student clicks Request to use Federal Financial Aid, the Home college receives an email request and determines whether the student is eligible to use financial aid to combine units taken at multiple colleges to receive a maximum financial aid award.
To be eligible for the California Virtual Campus (CVC) Exchange and potentially maximize financial aid at their designated Home college, students must meet the following requirements:
- Have a complete FAFSA or CADAA application at their Home College for the current academic year
- Be enrolled in at least six (6) units
- Meet the financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements
- Ensure that courses taken at the Home College and Teaching College align with the student's Home College program of study
Please note that clicking the request box does not guarantee that the student will receive financial aid. It is the student's responsibility to pay for the course(s) in which they are cross-enrolled at the Teaching College while the Home College reviews the financial aid request. The Home College will not submit payment on the student’s behalf, and the student may be dropped for non-payment by the Teaching College if fees are not paid by the deadline.
California College Promise Grant (Tuition Waiver)
If the student has a California College Promise Grant (CCPG), they may be able to use it to cover classes in which they are enrolled through the CVC Exchange.
The student needs to reapply for the California College Promise Grant by:
- Visiting their CVC Exchange Profile Class Schedule
- Select the Pay Now button next to the course
- Then choose California College Promise Grant (CCPG) from the payment options to be directed to the Teaching College's financial aid application process.
For options to pay your fees, please visit the CVC Exchange and select "Payment Options”
For questions regarding the CVC Exchange, please email the support team at support@cvc.edu.
Please note: The SBCC Financial Aid Office will begin processing Spring 2026 CVC Exchange financial aid requests for eligible students starting February 20, 2026.
